That subdued look is what clues him in, at least to her shift in mood. He gives her a lopsided smile. ] Sure thing, Suzu. I wouldn't mind at all. What've you got in mind..?
[Welp, here it goes. She feels a bit bad for bringing down the jovial mood, thanks to her usual guilt complex and overall anxiety, but... Suzu knows that Kuro would understand. Looking down, she twiddles her fingers, looking downwards shyly. After a brief moment of hesitation, she finally propositions:]
I-I was thinking... since we have more free time now... We could pick up some flowers for Mama... [She raises her head to look up at him sheepishly.] C-Can we?
[ That answer pangs something in his chest, an old wound that never quite healed right, but... that's why he gets it. It might make the mood more somber, might add a twist of melancholy, but... it's something that they were bound to address, right? And mom deserves the best, even now. ]
Sure. [ Kuro's voice is soft in response, and he reaches out to cup the side of her head, brushing back some of her hair so he can see both eyes properly. ] I think she'd like that, too. We can tell her about everything that's happened.
[ You'd have to be an idiot or obtuse to not notice that. Kuro is neither, but doesn't say anything as he feels the flush under his fingers, feels the way that Nazuna leans into it that little bit. Because it's better that way, to leave it alone. Nazuna can clear his throat and get away with it, as he looks away and at the crooked line of flowers. ]

[ He turns to look back at him again, that childish and mischievous glint in his eyes that he once had when he would come to whisk Nazuna on a new adventure. ]
[ thankfully, kuro saves a little bit of nazuna's dignity by not calling him out on it. it's been a strange, confusing month, but some things stay constant, and ever since kuro returned to nazuna's life, he's been one of them.
so has that look. it's familiar. nazuna catches onto it pretty quickly and takes a step back from his flowers, clapping his hands together and brushing the soil off of them. ]

[ Trying to remain constant and unchanging is... probably something that Kuro will keep aiming for, this month. After all, things around them have changed so drastically the past two months that he's not about to let it keep going. It's a lot, really, to try and balance.
Especially when all of Nazuna's family are effectively ghosts to them. ]
Yep. [ Simple, and he hooks his arm around Nazuna to steer him away. ] We're goin' somewhere we haven't been since we were kids.
But Kuro has been hit on in weirder ways before, so, it's fine. He just rolls his eyes a little, letting a kitten clamber up to his shoulder. ]
I think you've got the worst of it. [ He gestures to his own cheek, swiping his thumb over it to indicate the harmless baby scratch there. ] Maybe I should be helpin' you there.

Although, as he's pouring out dog food into a few of the bowls on a table rather than on the floor - just trying to get some of them filled before they Descend, frankly - he considers Apollo's question.

Hopefully we'll get some volunteers. I've done some work with the fire station before, but I'm just one guy. Gotta have more than that if somethin' happens. We can't be the only ones askin' that question.

[ Well. They're missing a lot of the staff, aren't they? Hopefully the kids appreciate it when everyone's returned again. But Kuro's trying to ignore the sterility of the place, personally. ]
If we can give them something to look forward to, then it's worth it, I think. And the paper stuff, they can learn how to do that, too.
[ Pausing in his own construction, Kuro looks curiously at his new companion's when he sees that he's focused on it. The trailing off kind of clues him in, so he huffs a soft laugh.
Not judgy, at least. But still. ]

Could make it into somethin' like a party with that. [ amused ] Think they might actually like a little confetti, personally, but.

[ Games... Kuro can't help but laugh a little, amused but also knowing that this was going to be pretty interesting. Because he knows, well, about nothing when it comes to video games. Technology? He's not hopeless, or anything, but it sounds like this might work out if they can swing something... ]
Well, if you're gonna be learnin' to cook, maybe you can teach me somethin' about your games. I haven't played anything since I was a kid, and that was in arcades and stuff like that. [ He's not Sena, he's watching his mouth around someone younger than him. ] I might be only, what, six years older'n you? But I don't know anythin' that "kids" are doin' nowadays with games.
Sure! When I'm not working on anything I play games. There's so many out right now! I go the arcade to check out the new games and play some of the new ones too. You can get mobile games on your phone too, if you don't mind being on your phone alot.
[They'll do mobile games last. He's still a little embarrassed about the number of games on his phone.]
There's so many genres now that we can find something that you'll like. I really like fighting games they can be fun. Oh! We can talk about that later. What should we start on first?
[Cause once he starts he can stay on games all day and he doesn't want to get too deep into it yet.
[ The fact you can play games on your phone is wild to him, in a stroke of irony. But Kuro starts getting the ingredients together, divvying them out to make sure that they're in proper order - meat, produce, noodles, sauce. ]

We're gonna do somethin' simple, that you can just cook in one pot and get it over with. Stir fry is a good, easy thing to go with, 'cause you can put any kind of protein, produce, and sauce into it, dependin' on mood or diet.
[Makoto takes notes of the ingredients in front of him. It looks simple enough, then again things he's thought were simple turned out to be a little more complicated than he thought. Well, this time it will be easier now that he has help.]
