Incoming~ [ His voice is a little less gravel than he's used to, but it doesn't register as too odd, as Kuro comes through with a sing-song warning. While the furniture at large is all pretty big, he doesn't have much trouble moving it on his own. It lets Nazuna focus on the painting. So, he carefully navigates the glider chair in through the doorway, minding the dark-stained wood and the pale white cushions so that nothing gets stuck.
The chair is just the right size to fit through the doorway. He has to squish the cushions in the arms, but, still, it gets in there. After that it's making sure he doesn't hit a wet spot on any wall, as he goes towards the center of the room.
And once he's there, he turns, goes to drop into the glider with his legs kicked out. There isn't too much sweat on his brow, as he's settled in a trashed tanktop and grey sweats that are about as thin as paper, but putting together furniture and then bringing it into the nursery? ] Hoo.
[ At least sitting lets him survey things, and the progress that Nazuna's made on painting (where he can reach to touch up). ] S'looking good, babe.
[ This should be more strange to him than it is, but it's - it's perfectly natural. The same as the room is. ]
[ nazuna scoots out of the way when kuro starts to move the chair in--he hovers around him for a minute as he makes it safely into the nursery, then sighs a little in relief, if not fondness as kuro drops into the glider. they've been at this for hours: there's a crib to assemble, a mobile to hang, shelves to build, a changing table to put together and the tasks are neverending.
painting the nursery is really just the start of it, though, and he's happy about it. this is life-affirming work, taking another step forward in the fairytale it feels like he's been living. it hasn't always been easy, but it's always been worth it.
nazuna puffs and steps between kuro's legs, then drops onto his thigh. he's still holding the paintbrush, but he holds it out of the way as he gets comfortable, settling down onto his lap. ] Unnyuu... I guess, but I can't figure out what's missing. Maybe it's because the furniture's not in here yet...?
[ he pauses, cocks his head, then smiles. ] The chair works, right?
[ The crib, as it is, is in pieces across the living room. Kuro still needs to put it all together, beyond what he's already done, but he'd gotten frustrated with the sheer number of pieces and the convoluted directions. So, the glider it was. It seemed more useful to them in this moment, anyways, as he spreads his thighs a little more to give Nazuna room to stand.
Even that movement is slow and lazy, despite the fact he folds a hand around Nazuna's waist the moment he takes a seat. He's not too worried about the paint, considering his lazy clothes. But it's appreciated regardless as he rubs his thumb into the dip of his hip with a soft kind of fondness. ]
Could be 'cause of the furniture. I could drag some more of it up here to put together, instead of down in the livin' room. But maybe a, uh. Trim? Trim could do it.
[ His head lolls against the back of the cushion, eyes focused lazily on the room around him. And then Kuro huffs a soft laugh, digging his heels into the floor and giving the glider a little rock. ]
[ there, that's nice. nazuna shifts his knees up so his feet don't drag on the floor when kuro moves the rocking chair, knees coming up to rest on kuro's other thigh as he settles in, letting the (brand new) familiar comfort of kuro's arm around his waist settle his unease, too. ]
Mmm... I can come help you with it. [ a beat, and then he hums, thoughtful. ] Trim is a good idea. Maybe we could get a cute wallpaper, or something...?
[ this is so domestic. hand to his chin, he looks around the room, cogs turning a little. it'd be nice. ] That, and the shelves you built... [ nazuna huffs, then smiles down at kuro from where he's perched, utterly content as he lets his free hand fall down to rest on kuro's chest, curling slightly in the fabric there. the light from the ceiling fan catches on his wedding band, bright golden in the light. ] It's starting to look like a nursery, though, right?
[ With a comfort and contentedness that comes from familiarity (foreign as it should be, true), Kuro almost melts back into the glider. Maybe they can just live in the nursery from now on - it's homey and cozy and very much theirs. But they need to have it ready for the newest addition, because it's not going to be much longer before it's not just little dog and rabbit feet dashing through the halls. ]
Maybe you can make somethin' of the goddamn directions. [ grumble
Whatever, it's fine. He shifts to lift one hip up, bracing a hand in the center of Nazuna's chest so he can use his other one to pull out his phone, instead of holding onto his hip any more. ] We can do some browsin', I think, and find a wallpaper that'd fit.
[ Any attempts to go looking much more than unlocking his phone are forgotten, when he feels the hand on his chest. It makes something thud dully in his chest, happy and sweet, and should he really feel like this? When did he start feeling like this?
His hand goes from Nazuna's chest, down to his own chest, just to wrap around his fingers. His own band is stark in the soft light, like a mirror of Nazuna's. ] It really is. We're gonna have to get a mobile or somethin' to hang from the light. Probably make it look real lively with the fan.
[ cute... kuro's frustration at the directions is adorable, mostly because nazuna will probably be doing the exact same thing in about five minutes, so he can rub it in his face a little right now. he lets kuro shift and move them around, completely at ease against kuro's chest, curled up in a ball, and he drops a foot down to rock the chair again, gentle motions.
easily, he laces their fingers together. it feels natural. and it should, shouldn't it? they're married, after all. have been for three years now, since kuro proposed and nazuna threw a ring box at him because he'd been planning to do the same thing. they fit together perfectly--they have since they were kids, and they always will.
(right?)
nazuna tucks his head into the crook of kuro's neck, letting the chair rock them, slowly, his eyes closing. ] Mmmhmm. Something to match... birds, or rabbits. Maybe a dragon.
[ teasing on that last one. he squeezes their hands. ] ...what do you think, a boy or a girl? I know we told her not to tell us, but--I wish I didn't say that. [ aka, he's as impatient as ever...even in a dream. ]
[ Why can't he just. Figure out these damn directions? Why is it giving him so much trouble? He put together the chair just fine, and the dresser and changing table are mostly fine. The shelves, too, although those aren't a lot of work when it comes to construction.
Even their bed was less of a hassle than this, but Kuro can't say he's too shocked. Those are built for adults, not for small children that need to be kept safe from literally everything around them, including themselves. Maybe he's just missing a piece somewhere... ]
Hm. [ His thumb taps against Nazuna's hand gently, as he starts to actually mess with his phone in his other hand. ] A dragon would prob'ly be a little too extra.
[ It's teasing right back, as he sets his cheek against the top of his soft, blond head. The rocking is comfortable and easy, something he continues after Nazuna. Just a little shift of his foot, and the glider rocks back again, cradling them together. Puzzle pieces that found each other years ago, and stayed together just as long, like they were locked together. 'til death do you part, after all. ]
I told you we should've said yes. [ There's a chuckle in his voice. ] Didn't think you'd manage to hold out this long, but I'm impressed by it.
Shuddup! [ his fist bonks very lightly into kuro's chest at that, even though their hands are joined together, mostly because nazuna is also, even in a dream, still pretty easily flustered. kuro has a point. ] It'sh--it's gonna be worth the surprise.
[ ...and it is, really. he can't even be that puffy about kuro pointing out how wrong he was as he thinks about it, a warm wash of happiness in his chest. he's always wanted to be a parent in some capacity--it's not much of a step away from "niichan"--and to be doing it with kuro, in their happy house, in this fairytale life he's earned... it's perfect. he wouldn't have it any other way.
slowly, they rock, backwards and forwards. nazuna settles back in again, content. ] Just a few more weeks. [ playfully, he pokes kuro in the chest. ] We still have a lo~ot to do. And a lot of alone time to use, too. ♫ It won't last long ~
[ Harmless, still so harmless, even this many years later. But he laughs anyways, grinning at Nazuna easily but not teasing for the slur. He looks fond and warm, sitting there like that, thinking about how Nazuna had battled with himself when their future mom told them they could find out what the baby's gender was. ] It really is. So just hold out, yeah?
[ His guess? He doesn't have one - Nazuna's mother is a pretty good reference for variety and old wives' tale ways of telling if you're going to have a boy or a girl. Talking to her made it pretty clear that they'd just be wildly guessing if they tried to do it.
And for as fun as it is, Kuro's content in waiting. He's waited this long to be a dad, he can wait a little longer. Even if they're in the middle of antsy nursery building and decoration. ] Hm~m.
[ Alone time. A little more gravel, what Kuro's more used to (death metal growls can do that to you), slides into his words as a grin starts to pull at the corners of his mouth. ] Better make good used to all the time we get to sleep and spend with each other, huh~?
nazuna opens his eyes where he's settled against kuro's chest, any slight indigence at kuro's not so well cloaked "i told you so" disappearing in just about an instant at the tone of kuro's voice.
he shifts a little, looking up at kuro's jaw, then curls his fingers in his shirt, small fingers closing, then opening across his pec, enough to brace himself up into a proper sitting position, nice and close. ] And how do you think we should spend our 'alone time', Kurochin?
[ It's easy for him to tip up, just a little closer, as Nazuna sits up. The position is just as familiar as everything else, in its strange, unfamiliar way, and his hand slides along the length of his body. When it stops, he settles it against the back of his thigh, like he can hike him closer, somehow. ]
Think I got an awfully good idea for it..~ [ And he tips up that much closer, closing the space between them.
As an outside observer, Kuro lets out a ] Huh. [ As he continues to watch this scene unfold. ]
nazuna nito gets embarrassed pretty easily, but he has never been more embarrassed in his entire life. when the outside observer speaks up, everything shifts, and it's like nazuna is standing there watching his dream. correction: he is standing there watching himself make out with the incredibly attractive drummer for clochette, and they're married and about to adopt a kid and kuro is right next to him.
his hands shoot up over his mouth, and his entire face turns red. ] Uu--
Unya!!! [ he yelps, flailing backwards a little like he can physically recoil from the scene now unfolding in front of him, hands moving from his mouth to in front of him like he could wave it away to covering his face, burying there. ]
Shtop--shtop lookin' at it!!! [ aaaAAAAAAAAAAAAA ]
[ There's a little more gravel in his voice, now, and that feels way more normal than anything else at the moment. But Kuro decides to take this all in stride, as the strange sort of dream that it is. The other him and the blond - Nazuna, the dream memory supplies - are really interested in making out in their future nursery. It's not a bad thing to behold, despite it's strangeness.
And neither is the embarrassment of this other version of his apparent husband? It's cute. Charming. ]
You're awfully embarrassed, ain'tcha. [ He holds his hands up, though, before folding one over his eyes. It's definitely teasing. ]
How're ya not-!?! [ embarrassed anyway, because this is absolutely mortifying. see. it would probably be less embarrassing if this was
the first time he's had this dream.
in some variation, kuro kiryu the rockstar has made appearances in different dreams of nazuna's. he's seen him around the kiryu house when visiting with suzu and mika every now and then, and that's been the extent of their interactions. short of the poster of the band he has on the wall of his bedroom, these dreams are the only interaction he's ever had with him.
until now, where kuro is standing right next to him and saw everything nazuna's subconscious came up with.
oh my god. he keeps his face buried firmly in his hands, so really he couldn't even tell if kuro was still looking. ] It--it--I-- [ are you really going to try and explain your way out of this ]
[ To be entirely fair to Nazuna, this is probably not a product of his subconscious alone. Kuro has done plenty of reading on shared dreams before in his spare time, so this wouldn't really be that out of the realm for that..? But he's never participated in one, before. He's had plenty of dreams like this before, sure, the inappropriate things that you don't want the object of those dreams to see, but not like this.
Someone else is watching it, and participating in it at the same time.
Weird. ]
We should prob'ly leave, before we really get goin', if you're already this embarrassed. [ He peeks between his fingers at Nazuna, humming an amused little noise. There's something vaguely familiar about his face, beyond the whole - you know, married life dream that he's been observing. ] 'cause I don't think we have any plans of stoppin' there.
[ oh, he will definitely take that out. nazuna finally peels his hands away from his face and looks up into the nebulous space of whatever the hell dreams are made of. "before we really get goin" is not ANY less embarrassing, thanks kuro. he's going to comment on it, snappy and embarrassed, but he hears the dream version of himself giggle (oh my god) and just like that the force of his own "nope we need to leave' makes the dream ripple and change around them.
the dream versions of themselves disappear, and the room shifts to something more familiar; nazuna's own bedroom in his house. his shoulders slump in relief, and nazuna more or less wheezes his second ] Unyaa... [ oh thank god.
[ Oh, but that giggle was cute? Oh well, Kuro's not about to voyeur himself today, even if it's not like he hasn't done or dreamt any of these things before. As it is, it's more for the cute blond's benefit than it is his. He looks a little like he's about to implode, he's so so red. So the change isn't too shocking, and he just looks around the new location when the dream shifts away to something else. A more normal bedroom, for someone that he'd wager was college-aged - not a big house with a big nursery that'd become a child's room eventually.
And then his eyes land on a very, very familiar poster, and he laughs a little. Just a chuckle that rumbles up from the pit of his chest. ]
Oh, hey. I remember that shoot. [ That definitely is his face on that poster. Actually, that's definitely his face, and his pecs, and his abs. That was for one of Suzu's tours, when he'd been with her, and they'd wanted to market all the members of her band at the time. ]
Hey, hey--!! [ oh my god. nazuna whirls around and remembers the poster about five seconds later, then scurries over and puts his hands on it, as if he could make it disappear.
it's a dream, so he probably could, and the vision of it wobbles a little before he gives up and just turns around like he could cover it, despite the fact that he's five feet and some change, his face still red. ] Hashn't lookin' caushed yew enough trouble--?!
I wouldn't say lookin's caused me any trouble, personally. You're the one that's all ruffled up. S'cute.
[ Ah, there we go. But he doesn't know the error of his ways, and instead goes about looking at other things that are around the room. Kuro figures that he can give him some of his dignity, and will take advantage of that to try and figure out why there's that familiarity there that doesn't have anything to do with the dream.
He really does feel like he's seen him around before... maybe with his siblings? Or younger than him, so maybe school before he graduated. That was a solid six years ago, though. ]
[ embarrassment, luckily, changes into his usual grumpy tiny rage. so, he stamps his foot, overwhelmed a bit by the sheer amount of emotions he's experienced in the past five minutes and latching onto the one he knows best. ]
I'm twenty-shree yearsh old, 'm not cute!! Beshides, what kinda pershon looksh at sat ash normal!!
[ the dream, not the poster. that's at least a little more normal. ]
[ Oh, feisty. Now that's cute, and Kuro can't help but turn and look back at him, eyebrows raising up. Interested and amused, but giving him a bit of a look-over. Because, well, it would be a bald-faced lie if he said that this guy wasn't his type in a lot of different ways. But he's pretty sure he should poke a little less, and keep it from getting out of hand.
After all, first impressions were already... interesting. ]
S'not normal at all. [ A shrug. ] But if this's a dream, what's there to be upset about?
Ughh, yew made me mesh up my wordsh... [ god. okay. he takes a deep breath to keep from stuttering any more and finally steps away from the poster, looking back at it a little despairingly.
well, it's on his real wall. there's probably no getting rid of that. putting his hands on his hips, he huffs a little, now that he has his ~cool niichan composure~ back. ] It being a dream doesn't make it any less embarrassing. I didn't expect to turn around and see you.
[ a pause, and he looks away, some of the red finally fading to a pinkish color in his cheeks. ] ...it's Nazuna. Nazuna Nito.
[ Pretty sure he messed up his words all his own. But Kuro just hums a low noise, still amused but not necessarily mean. All right, all right, he'll be nicer. Or, some semblance of it. But he does glance back at the poster for one moment, and then gives -
Well, Nazuna his full focus. ]
Not like I was expectin' it either. But it's interestin', too, 'specially since I can't shake the thought that maybe I've seen you before.
[ He slides his hands into his pockets, casual as can be and flashing him a grin. ] I figure you know who I am, but. Kuro Kiryu.
[ how is he so calm about this. how is anyone calm after any of that. nazuna's heartbeat is still beating as fast as a trapped rabbit's in his chest as he comes down from it, to be honest, and it's only "i've seen you before" that makes him pause.
he wrinkles his nose. ] I know your sister. She babysits my siblings sometimes, when she's home.
[ but, the dream around them seems to respond to that same phrase. the landscape shifts, wobbling a little, and nazuna takes a step towards kuro to keep from getting--sucked up, or something--but there's no danger. instead, the scenery changes, to that of a school roof.
he recognizes this. brows furrowed, nazuna asks: ] A hallucinomemory...? [ and turns to look at kuro. ]
SURE DO
